Israel is unique in its topography. While small in area, it has so many regions to choose from when looking for a destination to visit, ranging in height from 2,500 meters above sea level to 400 meters below. In summer, most of us search for those regions where we can enjoy a breeze – and we don't have to drive too far to get to the Galilee, with its fresh mountain air. This time we choose an interesting road, 886 that goes north from road 85. Focusing on the road's southern side, we begin our trip at Adir Winery in the Dalton Industrial Zone. Taste fine wines and goat cheese produced on-site from their own herd, with a visitor center where you can enjoy a delicious Galilee breakfast. Three kilometers along the road you will reach a lovely family bakery called Bar Elkalay. Take some cakes and cookies to go, though there is no guarantee they won't be finished off by the time you get home. Another fine option is a stop in Moshav Sifsufa, where you can visit the Lueria Winery and Sharona Patisserie. At Moshav Shefer, experience 11 years of adventure through the photography of Avi Goldberg, a nature photographer who has traveled to 103 countries and captured images that he displays in his home studio. Goldberg complements his best images with the stories he tells of how they happened in real time. Another stop along the way is at Hemdat Yamim. Rich in spirit, it should not be missed. In the Meron Nature Reserve, at 800 meters above the Mediterranean Sea, there is a scenic view from this special peak of Lake Kinneret (the Sea of Galilee). The music center right near the water tower holds performances throughout the year, bringing the best of pop, rock, jazz and world music to residents and visitors to the North. Spend a night or two to take full advantage of all there is to do in the region. One option is a small hotel (16 rooms) in Moshav Amirim, a serene place among the foliage of the Upper Galilee. Another fine lodging option is Miriam Estate Bed and Breakfast in Sifsufa. Enjoy lunch at Ben Cramim restaurant.
