A majority of Republican primary voters have maintained a deep level of support for Israel, amid an ascendancy of anti-Israel Democratic primary winners, a poll published by the Washington Free Beacon on Monday found.
The poll was conducted between June 5-9, the outlet noted, before a wave of anti-Israel Democratic candidates won their primaries across the US, particularly in New York and Colorado.
The poll found that likely Republican primary voters would prefer a candidate who supports a strong US-Israel relationship by a 57% margin, and one who explicitly denounces antisemitism by a 52% margin.
Respondents also said that they were less likely to support a candidate who described Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a war criminal (25% margin), for someone who takes steps to economically isolate Israel (43% margin), or for someone who votes against congressional resolutions denouncing antisemitism (43% margin), the poll found.
However, the largest concerns of the Republican voters surveyed remain the US economy and immigration, the outlet noted.
The outlet found that the cost of living, immigration, jobs, and the economy topped the list of concerns, at 31%, 13%, and 12% respectively.
Republicans largely supportive of Trump's handling of Iran war, poll taken before MoU signing finds
The survey also found that Republican voters were supportive of the US-Iran war by a 59% margin, and approved of US President Donald Trump's handling of the war by 55%.
The outlet, however, noted that the poll was conducted before Trump announced that the US and Iran had agreed to terms in a Memorandum of Understanding.
The Washington Free Beacon also cited an April 2026 Pew Research poll which found that eight in ten Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents have an unfavorable view of Israel and that as low as 4% of Muslims polled view Israel in a positive light.
The poll, conducted for the Free Beacon by Echelon Insights, surveyed over 1,100 likely GOP primary voters across the country between June 5-9.
