At the Jerusalem Post 2026 New York Conference, Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT Holon Institute of Technology spoke about the growing role of Israeli academia in national resilience and workforce development within the high-tech and defense sectors.
Speaking on a panel titled "Leading Through Uncertainty and the Jewish World," moderated by Dr. Efraim Chalamish, Prof. Yakubov described HIT as an institution focused on applied, state-relevant disciplines, designed to bridge academic study and industry needs. He noted that HIT has produced more than 22,000 graduates, of whom 2,500 currently hold senior positions at leading security, defense, and high-tech companies.
Prof. Yakubov also described how HIT is expanding its defense technology curriculum across its faculties, with the goal of preparing students for emerging challenges. He highlighted partnerships with institutions in the United States and other countries, explaining that these collaborations are aimed at equipping students for global technological and security environments.
On a personal note, Prof. Yakubov reflected on his own immigration from Eastern Europe approximately 30 years ago, saying, "Israel is my home now," and noting that this journey had shaped both his academic and professional path.
He closed with a broader message about Jewish identity and belonging: "I think that all Jews from all around the world should know that this is a unique country and a unique way to be together."
