Chevron’s GM for Corporate Affairs and Joint Ventures at Jpost Diplomatic Conference:

“Chevron has come in here and has shown an incredible amount of steadfastness to the State of Israel and a commitment to partnership”

Speaking at the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference, Bini Zomer, GM for Corporate Affairs and Joint Ventures at Chevron Mediterranean Limited, said that energy plays a major role in stabilizing and strengthening the region.

Zomer also emphasized Chevron’s long-term commitment to the Eastern Mediterranean, noting that continued investment in natural gas production and infrastructure can strengthen energy security, support economic growth, and deepen regional cooperation.

Throughout the war, Zomer said, Chevron maintained an uninterrupted supply of natural and electricity to Israel. “We are in Israel, connecting Israel to the region, and we are continuing to do that. We are very proud of that.”

He said Chevron has a strong position in the Eastern Mediterranean, anchored by its Tamar and Leviathan offshore natural gas fields, with ongoing exploration in Greece, Malta, and North Africa. He shared that the company would be interested in further gas exploration in Israel if it can obtain permission from Israeli regulators. “We believe in the resources and the ability to secure Israel's energy security for the long term, but doing so means finding more gas, and it also means investing in infrastructure to allow gas to be delivered to the customers,” he said. “Making those investments requires a stable regulatory environment, protection of rights and competitive fiscal terms.”

Zomer concluded his remarks by saying Chevron is dedicated to securing Israel’s energy security not just in the short term, but for decades to come. “There's plenty of gas to supply Israel, and plenty of gas to send to neighboring countries, which has only strengthened Israel's geopolitical standing,” he said.
