Tempo is expanding its operations and entering the kosher wine importation sector for the first time, with the launch of a new international portfolio featuring approximately 40 wines from 13 brands around the world.
As part of this move, Tempo is launching wines from 6 leading countries in the wine world – France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, and Hungary – in a move that marks the company's official entry into the kosher import category, alongside a significant strengthening of its Israeli wine operations.
Alongside the international importation, the company is also launching a new Israeli brand named ALTA, which joins Tempo's local portfolio that includes, among others, Barkan and Segal wineries, as well as the boutique wineries Feldstein and Lahat. With this, the company establishes its position as the largest and most diverse "wine house" in Israel.
Most of the local consumption relies on kosher wines
Tempo explains that the Israeli wine market continues to develop, with most local consumption relying on kosher wines, alongside a continuous increase in demand for imported wines and international flavor experiences. According to industry data, over 90% of the wine sold in Israel is kosher, and the import category accounts for about 30% of the market.
As part of the new move, Tempo is launching a portfolio that includes wines from 13 international brands, some of which are arriving in Israel for the first time, and some of which were even produced specially in kosher versions for the local market. The wines will be imported under international kosher standards, including OU, OK, Star-K, and Triangle K.
The new portfolio will include a wide variety of styles and price levels – from accessible wines for retail to premium wines for restaurants, hotels, and specialized wine shops.
ALTA – a new Israeli wine brand
Simultaneously with the launch, the company also announced the new Israeli wine brand ALTA, based on vineyards in the Upper Galilee. The series includes four wines – Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rosé, and Cabernet Sauvignon – and offers a modern interpretation of the mountainous terroir of the Galilee, with an emphasis on freshness, balance, and a distinct local character.
Daniel Beer, CEO of Tempo, stated that: "About 70 years ago, Tempo was established around just a single product – a glass soda bottle. Over the years, we made a strategic decision to expand and develop across all beverage worlds, while creating real value for our consumers and customers. This is what we did in the beer world with Goldstar, in the spirits world, in energy drinks, and in additional categories. In the wine world as well, we have built a significant operation over the years around Israeli wine, which includes Barkan and Segal wineries, the boutique wineries Feldstein and Lahat, and recently also the new brand ALTA. Today, we are proud to complete another step and launch Tempo's kosher import wine operations, with the goal of bringing the Israeli consumer the finest wines from around the world, at the highest quality and at accessible and competitive prices. This is a move that strengthens Tempo's position as the leading beverage house in Israel and as a key player in the wine world, with a broad and diverse offering that combines the best of Israeli wine with quality kosher wines from around the world."
