The remains of one of the missing girls swept away by the Jordan River near Lahavot HaBashan were found, Magen David Adom reported on Saturday, while authorities continue to search for the second one.

The 13-year-old was found dead in the Jordan River, with MDA paramedic Eli Ben Zaken saying that she was rescued unconscious, without a pulse, and not breathing. "We performed medical tests, but unfortunately, we had no choice but to declare her dead," the paramedic added.

Hebrew media reports indicate that three girls entered the water, but the current quickly became overpowering.

Only one of the three managed to swim to shore.

Police, rescue teams dispatched

After losing contact with her friends, the girl who escaped the water alerted the authorities, prompting the dispatch of rescue teams and police to the area.

The search for the remaining missing girl, who is reportedly 15-years-old, is currently ongoing.

Following two hours of searching the surface of the river and its banks, Israel Fire and Rescue Services announced that divers are now preparing to search the riverbed to enhance the rescue efforts.

This is a developing story.
