Haredi (ultra-Orthodox)protesters continued their demonstrations against light rail construction on Jerusalem's Bar-Ilan Street on Sunday.

N12 News reported that some demonstrators entered work zones and damaged construction. In one video, a haredi protester breaks through fences surrounding construction sites and lies on piles of pipes.

In another video seen by The Jerusalem Post, haredi protesters try to push through the fence and get into a physical altercation with construction workers.

One person has been arrested so far, Israel Police said in a statement.

Haredi protesters block roads, damage light rail infrastructure

"The rioters entered a light rail work compound, damaged infrastructure, attempted to block traffic routes, and disrupted public order at the site. A police officer declared a public disorder incident and called on the rioters to evacuate the route," the statement said.

This comes after weeks of protests by haredi citizens of Jerusalem against the development of the city's light rail

Earlier in June, multiple protesters were arrested in separate instances by police due to several "blatant violations of public order" after they blocked roads and entrances to construction sites.
