Israel Police arrested four settlers on Saturday following an alleged attack on a CNN news crew in the West Bank village of Sinjil, CNN reported.

According to the report, the Israeli citizens of the West Bank blocked the crew's vehicle as it sought to leave the area moments after arriving, with IDF soldiers arriving to assist soon after receiving the incident report.

CNN added that the settlers were armed with wooden and metal rods, stones, and a knife, smashing the windshield of the vehicle and attempting to puncture the tires.

Israel Police said they uncovered a knife and several clubs following a search of the suspects' vehicle, adding that an investigation into the matter is ongoing.

“The Israel Police and the IDF view any manifestation of violence or causing damage to property very seriously, especially when it concerns media personnel performing their work,” the Israel Police said.

The CNN crew, which was accompanied by additional journalists, was in Sinjil covering the one-year anniversary of Saif Musallet's death, a Palestinian-American killed by Israeli settlers in July 2025.

At the time, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee described Musallet's killing as a "criminal and terrorist act," with the victim's family telling CNN that no suspects have been arrested thus far.

US rep. says settlers detained him in West Bank

Earlier on Saturday, US Democratic lawmaker Ro Khanna said he was detained by armed Israeli settlers during a West Bank visit this week, according to a Reuters report, with the US rep. describing the incident as an unfiltered look at the human toll of "Israeli occupation."

"We were at a village that Israeli settlers had destroyed," said Khanna. "They had destroyed the school, they had destroyed that village, and we were just looking at it."

"And these hoodlums come in with machine guns, M4, an American-made machine gun, and they detain us," he added. "They block off the road. And then they call the IDF and the IDF is on their side, not on the side of the Americans."

The IDF said soldiers and police intervened after receiving the report, dispersing the settlers and freeing Khanna's vehicle entourage.

Israel Police did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment, nor did the US Embassy in Jerusalem.

Khanna, a progressive California lawmaker in the US House of Representatives, is weighing a 2028 presidential run.
