Rescue teams from the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority searched for a boy after his boat capsized on the Jordan River near the Hula Valley on Sunday, the authority confirmed.
Magen David Adom paramedics attempted to provide emergency medical care after he was located, but were forced to declare him dead after failing to resuscitate him, MDA confirmed.
Israel Police officers and other emergency services assisted in the search efforts.
A United Hatzalah drone unit also participated in the search, with members of the Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit also providing emotional first aid at the scene, the emergency service confirmed.
"A 12-year-old boy was located and pulled from the water by the Golan Rescue Unit and brought to the banks of the Jordan River without signs of life. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. United Hatzalah assisted in the search efforts with our drone unit, and our Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit provided emotional first aid at the scene due to the nature of the incident," United Hatzalah EMTs said.
Numerous police officers, including an air unit helicopter and rescue unit volunteers, had been dispatched to the scene and conducted extensive searches in an attempt to locate the boy, Israel Police added.
