Israel is considering expelling British, and possibly other European, officials from the US-led coordination center for post-war Gaza, the Financial Times reported on Thursday.
The Israeli government in recent weeks has discussed removing the UK from the International Gaza Support Center, the multinational headquarters established to monitor the US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the newspaper said, citing people familiar with the matter.
Reuters could not immediately verify the FT report.
Open letter released by French, British diplomats denouncing Israeli Gaza conduct
Last week, over 100 former diplomats from France and Britain published and signed an open letter accusing Israel of systemically destroying Gaza and its population.
The letter was published shortly after Israel was condemned by 11 countries, France and the UK included, for publishing construction tenders for the E1 settlement project.
The countries called the project "unacceptable," with the UK adding it would prepare targeted sanctions against those involved in settlement expansion.
Separately, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker said on X/Twitter on Saturday that Israel “must immediately withdraw the E1 settlement plans and halt settlement expansion in the West Bank.”
Both countries recognized the State of Palestine in 2025.
