Indictments were filed in the Haifa Magistrate's Court against two main suspects, a man and a woman, accused of running a human trafficking network in Haifa and Kiryat Shmona on Friday.
The indictment came at the culmination of a year-long undercover investigation that began in July of 2025, after suspicion arose regarding the suspects using social media to recruit victims.
The investigation found that the suspects lured victims in with false promises of office jobs. The suspects provided victims with accommodations and small stipends before posting their pictures on social media and, using threats, pressuring them into providing sexual services.
They targeted and exploited women of various ages, some of whom were disabled, in deep mental distress, or suffering from financial insecurity.
Multiple suspects in trafficking ring arrested in June
Multiple suspects, including the main suspects, were arrested on June 7 on charges of human trafficking, pimping under aggravated circumstances, and extortion through threats.
After their arrest, the main suspects' detention was extended until the indictments were filed.
The Israel Police, in a statement regarding the indictments, asserted that it will continue to work to expose and investigate crimes of human trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable populations. Police vowed to bring the perpetrators of such crimes to justice and protect victims.
