A Jerusalem man was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving after sharing a video he filmed while riding a motorcycle with his dog in his lap, the Israel Police stated on Monday.

Police launched an investigation into the suspect after the video spread on social media and summoned him for questioning.

"The suspect's astonishingly reckless behavior posed a serious danger that could have cost lives, threatening not only his own safety and that of his dog, but also that of other road users - all for the sake of filming a video for social media,” the police stated.

Driver to stand trial for dangerous driving, police say

“The driver will stand trial for his actions, and we will continue operating in the online sphere to identify dangerous drivers and remove them from the roads."

In the video, the dog is seen standing on the owner's lap, with no protective gear for the animal. The suspect can also be seen holding the phone behind him while driving, and turning away from the road to look at it.

The suspect has been ordered to appear in court, as legal proceedings against him will continue.
