Israel Police, in coordination with the IDF, arrested a suspect in Jericho overnight on Wednesday for allegedly publishing incitement and indicating support for Hamas on social media.
The police worked in cooperation with the Judea and Samaria District's Observation and Intelligence Unit, the Border Police, and the IDF's 417th Brigade in order to carry out the operation.
The suspect is alleged to have operated a number of social media accounts through which he would publish incitement against Israel and the IDF, alongside praise and support for Hamas.
Posts include incitement, connections to Hamas discovered
"God chose the name Hamas for us, and we did not know that its meaning in Hebrew is 'destruction and ruin,' and that it would be destruction and ruin for the Zionist occupiers," he reportedly wrote in one post.
In another, he posted: "Set ambushes and strike your enemies," alongside images that praised members of Hamas.
The 39-year-old suspect, who was caught hiding in bushes near his home, was transferred for interrogation at the Ma'aleh Adumim police station.
According to police, the suspect has been found to be affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood in the northern Gaza Strip and linked to Hamas operatives.
