Singer-songwriter and Fauda star Idan Amedi will head south to the Gaza border region to perform, more than two years after he nearly lost his life while serving in the IDF during Operation Rising Lion.
On June 25, Amedi will take the stage at Bira Ba’Otef, the Sderot Beer Festival, in what is billed as a full concert featuring many of his best-known songs.
He will perform on the second day of the festival, which opens on June 24 at Azrieli Park in Sderot. The evening will also feature food trucks and dozens of kinds of beer. Other performers will include Itay Levi and Melech HaKasetot (the King of the Cassettes). Admission is for ages 18 and over.
Amedi, one of Israel’s most popular singers, first became widely known when he competed on Kochav Nolad (A Star Is Born) with his original song, “A Warrior’s Pain,” inspired by his service in a combat engineering brigade.
The song became one of his signature hits and took on increased resonance during the war.
Wounded while fighting in Gaza
Amedi was seriously wounded while fighting in Gaza in January 2024, in an incident in which several of his fellow soldiers were killed, prompting an outpouring of support from fans and his colleagues in the Israeli music industry.
In addition to his music career, Amedi is known internationally for his role as Sagi, a member of a counterterrorism unit on the Yes series Fauda, available around the world on Netflix. Although his character played a major role in the first four seasons, Amedi chose to step back from the series in season five, saying that he needed to focus on his recovery, as well as to spend time on his family and his music.
Sagi is mentioned briefly in season five, but does not appear in the series, which is currently running on Yes Action in Israel and will be available on Netflix later this year
Tickets for Amedi’s show are available through the Sderot Beer Festival website.
