The nonprofit organization Pitchon-Lev has been awarded the Knesset Speaker’s Quality of Life Award in the category of mental and emotional resilience for vulnerable populations affected by the Iron Swords War.
The award serves as state recognition of the organization's work since its founding in 1998 to help families break the cycle of poverty, strengthen their economic and social resilience, and promote long-term social change in Israel.
For more than 25 years, Pitchon-Lev has advocated a comprehensive approach to poverty alleviation, arguing that addressing poverty requires more than emergency assistance and must include long-term support aimed at helping families achieve economic independence.
The organization operates a range of programs that include food security initiatives, distribution of essential supplies, assistance in accessing social rights and benefits, educational programs for youth from Israel's social and geographic periphery, and its flagship "Leheitiv" program. The intensive support program combines financial assistance, employment guidance, and emotional support. According to the organization, one in four participating families succeeds in escaping the cycle of poverty.
In recent years, and particularly since the outbreak of the Iron Swords War, as well as during Operation Rising Lion and Operation Lion's Roar, Pitchon-Lev has expanded its activities as part of Israel's civilian assistance network, working in coordination with the Home Front Command and local authorities.
The organization has provided support to families facing economic hardship, evacuated residents, communities in southern and northern Israel, IDF soldiers, and their families, while focusing on strengthening personal and community resilience and reducing economic and emotional uncertainty.
