The IDF on Sunday held a changeover ceremony for the commander of the 401st Armored Brigade, with Col. Yoav Schneider replacing Col. Meir Biderman.
The incident is notable as Biderman is recovering from his wounds caused by a Hezbollah drone attack on May 20.
The changeover was scheduled before the attack that injured Biderman. He is due to transfer over to the IDF's Operations Directorate, where he will lead the division's planning department.
Biderman has held the role since replacing Col. Ehsan Daxa, who was killed during combat with Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip in October 2024.
Schneider previously commanded the 205th Reserve Armored Brigade.
Senior officers, including two General Staff members attend ceremony
The changeover ceremony was held at the IDF Northern Command headquarters, with several senior officers in attendance, including Northern Command Chief Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo, Southern Command Chief Maj.-Gen. Yaniv Asor, 162nd Division Chief Brig.-Gen. Sagiv Dahan, 91st Division Chief Brig.-Gen. Yuval Gez, as well as other commanders, soldiers, and relatives.
One other IDF reservist officer was wounded by the explosive drone that hurt Biderman, the IDF confirmed at the time.
