Yehuda Yazdi, the son of the rabbi who verbally attacked IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, tried to explain the harsh remarks on 103FM and said his father does not receive money from the state. “He gets no shekel,” he said.

Rabbi Aryeh Yazdi was heard cursing Zamir on Monday, saying he was "accursed" and calling for “his name be erased.”

Yehuda, his son, spoke on 103FM and tried to explain why his father spoke that way. In the conversation, he denied a report that his father receives hundreds of thousands of shekels a year from the state.

“Don’t forget where he was speaking from: They threw him into the garbage can with a wheelbarrow. And from the garbage can he shouted,” Yazdi said, explaining his father’s remarks against the chief of staff.

“Whoever said yesterday that Rabbi Yazdi should be sued and that he has a kollel, that is a complete lie. He gets no shekel from the state.”

Son of rabbi who verbally berated Zamir claims he does not receive state funds

“Forget the words, that is semantics, were you shocked by the essence of what was said? They sent a soldier in the State of the Jews to detention because of a messianic patch; weren’t you shocked by that?” Yazdi asked.

“He feels, when he hears these things, that here in the army Jews are fighting the coming of the Messiah.”

Later, the rabbi’s son referred to journalist Dr. Avishai Ben Haim’s theory about First Israel and Second Israel.

“There is First Israel, there is Second Israel, and there is an Israel that no one counts, the old yishuv,” he said.

“This is a person who, within the four cubits of halacha, studies Torah all day, and today he is persecuted to the neck. When he has one son who is supposedly a deserter, he suddenly hears that in addition to all this persecution, when they want to send us into the garbage can with a wheelbarrow, they sent a person to a cell because of a messianic patch.”

Yazdi completely rejected the report by Yoeli Brim, a Channel 13 News reporter, that his father is budgeted at hundreds of thousands of shekels a year from state funds.

“Rabbi Aryeh Yazdi is a Jew who does not receive a single shekel from the state. He sits all the time within the four cubits of halacha; there is a group that loves my father’s style of learning and believes in that path, and he writes books,” Yehuda said.

“My father was registered as a kollel avrech for 10 or 15 years, today that is 600 shekels a month, there is a lot of criticism about that. Already two years ago he said, ‘Guys, thank you very much, I am leaving you.’ He no longer receives those 600 shekels either.”
