The US and Iran have submitted their responses to a proposal put forward by Pakistan and Qatar to resume talks between the countries, Al Arabiya and Al Hadath reported on Sunday.
This comes after the second consecutive night without US strikes on Iran, after nearly two weeks of sustained US military operations.
For 13 days, US President Donald Trump approved strike plans presented by military officials each afternoon, with the attacks generally carried out within hours, Axios reported on Saturday.
Trump received another proposed strike plan on Friday but declined to authorize it, instead instructing the military not to launch new attacks, two sources familiar with the decision told Axios.
Iranians getting 'more serious' about talks, Trump says
Shortly after issuing the order to hold fire, Trump told reporters at the White House that although he retained the option of continuing or escalating the attacks, the "smarter strategy" would be to reach an agreement with Iran.
“We're talking to [the Iranians] right now. I think they're getting more and more serious as the days go by. We're locked and loaded and ready to go, but we're talking to them,” Trump said.
