The expression “the dumbing down of America” is not an entirely new phrase. The concept of “dumbing down” was actually coined in 1933 by Hollywood to describe an effort to oversimplify something for mass audiences.

The term became familiar as America began to embody that characterization. Blamed for inferior education, laziness, and a lack of initiative to get to the truth, we have seen many illustrations proving that a dumbing down is indeed taking place.

Chief among those examples is the spoken word of an individual taken as “gospel.” Never mind if that person isn’t credible or has been caught lying for the purpose of furthering a particular agenda. It’s so much easier to run with whatever they said than to do one’s own research, especially if you want their accusation to be true.

Along with the many voices alleging Israel committed genocide, few of them are as amplified as Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, notorious for her disdain of all things American and Israeli.

Prior to a vote having been taken by the US House of Representatives to block taxpayer funding to Israel’s military, prohibiting any funds from being used for Israel, Omar said, “It should be a no-brainer: our tax dollars should not fund a genocide. We cannot continue to be complicit in Israel’s crimes against humanity.”

She gave no factual evidence and no proof, but why offer it up when all that’s needed is the damning accusation? Knowing she has a ready-made audience who wants to believe that the malicious slander is true, that’s all she really needs.

Never asked to produce corroboration for her libelous claims, she can get away with such incendiary indictments, escaping the scrutiny of a challenging media and public. And while it’s maddening that no one ever demands that she back up her charges, it’s time that an official leader or lawmaker call her out to either show proof of genocide or shut up!

Until that happens, her remarks will not go without response – at least by those of us who are committed to setting the record straight!

Some proof Israel has not committed genocide

No Gaza genocide has ever taken place at the hands of the Israeli people, its government, or its military. By way of tangible evidence, here are some reliable facts to refute the lying, despicable congresswoman, who should bear the shame for her treacherous dishonesty, defining her as a hater, both to the country she claims to serve and towards the nation which has been its most stalwart ally for nearly eight decades!

• Israel has never had the “specific intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial or religious group,” as defined under international law. The goal to eliminate the terror group Hamas, which perpetrated a massacre with the motive to destroy the Jewish nation, does not qualify as planned intent, especially since Gazans were welcomed into Israel for employment before that barbaric attack.

• Prior warning to civilians of intended attacks upon the enemy by use of text messages, leaflets, and phone calls completely contradicts a desire to commit genocide. You don’t warn the people you are about to murder.

• After great investigation, independent assessments have determined that Israel is not guilty of genocidal aspirations, nor does defending their population through military action qualify as a genocide.

That includes findings by the United Kingdom’s Foreign Office as well as the conclusions of retired United States Army officer and researcher of urban warfare, John Spencer, who made multiple trips over the course of nearly two years, embedding directly with the IDF to research and publicly defend Israel’s conduct against accusations of genocide.

• It’s also worth noting that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has never ruled that Israel committed genocide, despite having made that charge almost three years ago when South Africa formally accused the Jewish State of crimes of genocide.

• Would a military, fixated on genocide, also facilitate the distribution of humanitarian aid, including food, medical supplies, fuel and much more? Yet, Israel has consistently done that ever since the recipients of that aid cheered on Hamas’s efforts to slaughter innocent Israelis.

• Unlike real historical genocides, Gaza’s population numbers have remained steady over the past few years.

• “According to PCBS, which is based in Palestine’s West Bank and not controlled by Hamas, there were 2.19 million Gazans at the end of 2022. By May 2025, PCBS says Gaza’s population was 2.11 million – a decrease of about 80,000 people or 3.6% of the pre-war population.”

• Compare that to the eradication of Jewish populations in Arab countries over the last 75 years. In the best-case scenario, 1948’s Morocco had 245,000 Jews, which by 2023 shrank to only 2,100. In the worst-case scenarios, Yemen, Syria and Libya, which had 63,000, 38,000 and 30,000 Jews, respectively, had none in the year 2023. Iraq, which originally had 135,000, had only 4 in 2023.

Jews from around the world rebuilt in Israel instead of placing blame

Yet Jews are not claiming victimhood for being forced out of the countries that were once home to them. Instead, they left everything behind – many losing fortunes, prosperous livelihoods, and everything they held dear – without ever being compensated for those losses.

Rather than blame Arab countries for what is akin to a genocide, by way of banishment, they rebuilt their lives in their ancestral homeland, even while being attacked by those nations who sought to destroy the Jewish people, qualifying as genocidal intent.

Disingenuous people, such as Omar, may know all of these documented facts; however, given her inability to further a long-held, indoctrinated contempt for Israel, the truth is of no interest to her, as it only serves to expose the lies.

Of course, if media outlets were committed to unearthing the truth, these verified evidentiary accounts would make their way to the public, who would then have a completely different viewpoint on the many false accusations which have been hurled at Israel by antisemites who have an axe to grind.

Sadly, we cannot count on reporters who sell more news by dishonestly manipulating the narrative. Their preferred version has its favorite scapegoat filling the role of the perfect foil to hide their own sins.

Just look at the many indiscretions of Omar, which are alleged to include massive corruption scandals and immigration fraud by marrying her brother. Isn’t it time she puts up or shuts up?
