Lamine Yamal delivered another viral moment as Barcelona cruised to a 4-1 Champions League victory over Galatasaray. The young star was among the standout performers, with his dazzling dribble past Elmali, which set up Gordon for the Catalans' third goal, emerging as one of the night's defining moments.
After the match, Yamal was asked to explain the unusual piece of skill. "Well... in the end, it worked," he said. "I'd call it almost a rabona, but I don't know... it just happened that way in the moment. In the end, it worked well for Gordon's goal."
Yamal was named Man of the Match, drawing praise from his Barcelona teammates. Fermin was among those impressed by the winger's performance. "Lamine is a friend and a great teammate. When he has the ball, I'm always looking for space because I know he's looking for me and can see me. He's the best in the world; he has so much quality. We get along well off the pitch, and that shows on the pitch, too."
The spectacular dribble quickly went viral, although not everyone was convinced. Some of Barcelona's rivals offered a less flattering interpretation of the move, arguing that it looked as though Yamal had nearly lost possession before recovering the ball thanks to a touch from the defender in front of him. Still, that alternative reading did little to diminish the excitement surrounding the moment.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick also praised Yamal, who finished the match with two assists. "Lamine Yamal had an excellent second half and was very important for us," Flick said. "He controlled the game fantastically."
Flick continued: "Lamine is in excellent physical condition and enjoys playing soccer, as we saw in the second half. It's special to have a player of that caliber who can change games like that."
Yamal also had support in the stands in Istanbul, where his mother, partner and friends were on hand to watch him in action. But when the final whistle blew, it was once again a moment of individual brilliance from the young Barcelona star that captured the spotlight.
