The Greek airline Bluebird Airways is significantly expanding its operations between Israel and Italy, and starting in September will operate direct flights from Tel Aviv to four Italian destinations: Rome, Bologna, Naples, and Bergamo, which serves as the gateway to the Milan area.
The route to Bergamo began operating as early as May 2026, and is now joined by three additional destinations. This turns Italy into one of the company's core destinations from Ben-Gurion Airport, with frequencies that allow passengers greater flexibility when planning a vacation, trip, or business travel.
According to the company, flight prices to the four destinations start at €270 round trip, but most prices found on its website range between €350 and €450, excluding baggage and seat selection. How much will you add for these?

Planned flight schedule starting September 2026:
Rome – starting September 3, three weekly flights will operate. Starting September 13, flight frequency will increase to daily.
Bologna – starting September 2, three weekly flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Naples – starting September 16, two weekly flights will operate on Wednesdays and Fridays. Starting September 25, frequency will increase to three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Bergamo (Milan) – the route operates daily.
"An increase in passenger traffic to the country"
According to Amit Sagi, vice president of Bluebird and Tus Airways (both under the same Israeli ownership), demand for flights to Italy among Israelis continues to grow, and the expansion of operations is intended to accommodate passengers wishing to reach the north, center, and south of the country. "Italy continues to be one of the most sought-after vacation destinations among Israelis, and we see this both in demand and in Ben-Gurion Airport data, which indicate an increase in passenger traffic to the country," Sagi said.
According to him, autumn is a particularly convenient period for traveling in Italy, thanks to pleasant weather and relatively lower crowds compared to the summer season. The company also pointed to the Tishrei holidays, which allow Israelis to plan longer and more flexible vacations.
