Another Italian destination is joining Israel's direct flight map: Greek carrier Blue Bird Airways will launch a new route between Tel Aviv and Bologna on Wednesday, September 2, becoming the sole operator of direct flights between the two cities.
The service will run three times a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays - with one-way fares starting at €128, depending on availability and booking terms.
Bologna, the capital of Northern Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, serves as both a vibrant urban getaway and a strategic gateway to the surrounding area. The new route provides Israeli travelers with direct access to Northern Italy, bypassing the need for connecting flights.
The launch forms part of Blue Bird’s broader operational expansion in Italy. The airline already flies direct from Tel Aviv to Bergamo and Milan, and is slated to add two more Italian routes - Rome and Naples - on September 17. Within less than a month, the carrier will expand its network from Israel to five Italian destinations.
The Bologna route debuts amid strong seasonal demand for travel to Italy, offering a timely option for travelers planning autumn vacations in the north. Beyond its famous historic center, iconic porticoes, and world-renowned culinary scene, Bologna allows passengers to easily branch out to neighboring tourist hotspots across Northern Italy.
