Those looking for lodging at the Dead Sea during the upcoming holidays who do not wish to pay regional hotel prices will have an additional option this year: An orderly camping complex in the Solarium area in Ein Bokek will open to the general public between September 10 and October 3.
The complex is intended for those arriving with their own tent and camping gear, and is suitable for families, hikers, and visitors to the area during the holiday period. It includes restrooms and showers, and is situated near the Dead Sea beach and the Ein Bokek tourism center, which features operating restaurants, cafes, and attractions.
The campsite will also operate while regional cultural events take place, including the Tamar Festival during Hol Hamoed, making it a potential lodging option for concertgoers who prefer to remain in the area.
However, this is independent camping: Travelers are required to bring a tent and all necessary sleeping equipment with them. The complex will be closed during Yom Kippur.
Tamar Regional Council head Nir Wanger said that the goal is to enable the public to enjoy the Dead Sea and local tourism options through more accessible accommodation solutions. "This is another link in the continuum of services and tourism development that we are leading in the Tamar Regional Council," he said.
