President Isaac Herzog condemned the violence in the West Bank while visiting an IDF base in the region on Wednesday.
"We are a nation of the rule of law, and as a democracy with the rule of law, we make sure that the rule of law applies here. I condemn any effort to undermine this by vigilantes," Herzog said.
Herzog vowed to do "whatever it takes" to ensure that such vigilantes would be arrested and brought to trial.
Herzog met with Division Commander Brig-Gen Kobi Heller and received a briefing on the operational situation in the area before delivering a statement to the media.
This comes a day after over 100 Jewish extremists attacked IDF soldiers and Border Police officers near the Palestinian village of Jalud in the West Bank, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, ultimately succeeding in blocking the return of a Palestinian family to its home.
At one point, the Jewish extremists broke into one of the structures and were chasing around and cornering the Palestinians and their IDF protectors.
The IDF made a rare public admission that its mission of returning the Palestinians had failed so far.
The violent riots were condemned by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and by the US State Department.
Herzog addresses flydubai incident
Herzog also addressed the attempted hijacking of a flydubai flight to Tel Aviv, calling the passengers who restrained the hijacker "heroes."
Herzog also thanked Israel's "partners and friends."
"The United Arab Emirates is fighting terror with us and with other nations in the region. We must not allow terror to destabilize the region, and we must prevent all efforts to undermine the stability and peace in the region," He said.
