Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded on Sunday that the justice system prosecute the people who participated in the NAZA documentary for severe information security offenses, criminal defamation, and damage to Israel's diplomatic and security interests.

According to a letter released by the Prime Minister’s Office, the prime minister asked the IDF Chief of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) Director David Zini, and Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara to launch a comprehensive investigation into the participants of the documentary.

"The film spins a false, misleading, and biased narrative that defames the State of Israel and the IDF globally and severely damages Israel's standing,” Netanyahu said at the beginning of the letter.

Three Israeli creators have released a documentary designed to directly counter and discredit NAZA, the controversial, Venice Film Festival award-winning film that alleges systematic Israeli military misconduct in Gaza.

The counter-project, titled NAZA: The Real Story, dropped with English subtitles in an effort to immediately shape the global narrative.

Directed by Roy Danino, Hagai Gutman, and Ariel Orbuch, the documentary positions itself as an explicit rebuttal of the original film’s anonymous whistleblower claims.

The creators of NAZA, The True Story received certificates of appreciation from National Public Diplomacy Directorate head Tzipi Hotovely on Thursday, the Prime Minister's Office announced.

According to the PMO, NAZA, The True Story "features testimonies from soldiers, refutes the blood libels against IDF soldiers and commanders, thereby defending our soldiers and the State of Israel."
