A Palestinian family was injured by masked Jewish attackers posing as IDF soldiers after the settlers attacked them in their home near Kusra in the West Bank in the early morning hours on Tuesday, according to a KAN News report.

According to KAN, the family was at home when the attackers knocked on the door around 3 a.m., claiming to be military personnel. The family stated the father opened the door and was grabbed by the extremists, who began beating him with sticks and rocks.

The mother and two teenage daughters reportedly tried to help the father and were also beaten.

According to KAN, the settlers fled the area after the attack, and the injured family members were taken to a hospital in Nablus for treatment.

A relative present at the time told KAN that the family opened the door only because they believed the people knocking were soldiers. The relative added that police were called multiple times about the attack and that there was a military presence in the area.

Olive harvest season regarded as sensitive security period

On Thursday, the IDF’s Central Command announced that it had completed preparations ahead of the Palestinian olive harvest in the West Bank as concerns regarding settler extremist violence and terrorism grow.

The preparations aim to prevent friction between Palestinian and Israeli populations during the harvest in Areas A and B, as the harvest season is considered a sensitive period from a security standpoint.

As violent incidents have continued over the past month, military sources say the situation has deteriorated compared with previous years, including growing disputes over territory and control of land.
