A well-known singer was arrested on Saturday afternoon on suspicion of domestic violence after his partner filed a complaint against him.
The singer, who has become a prominent public figure in recent years, was taken to the Rishon Lezion police station for questioning under caution and is expected to give his account of the allegations.
According to police suspicions, the incident occurred in the context of the couple’s relationship. In her complaint, the singer’s partner alleged that he had been violent toward her, threatened her, and broken windows.
A source familiar with the details told Walla that the investigation is currently focused on suspected domestic violence. "His partner said that he was violent toward her, threatened her and broke the windows," the source said.
"After he gives his version of the incident, they will examine whether to release him already at the station or whether he will be brought to court tomorrow for an extension of his detention," the source added.
The singer was questioned under caution. Based on the account he provides and any developments in the investigation, police will decide whether to release him under conditions following the questioning or ask the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court on Sunday to extend his detention.
Rapper tied to Ben-Gvir suspended from rapid response unit
The arrest follows another singer-related legal incident on August 2, when Israel Police Commissioner Inspector-General Danny Levy suspended right-wing activist and musician Yoav Eliasi from his position as commander of a Tel Aviv District rapid response squad.
Eliasi, known as “The Shadow,” is considered an associate and ally of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
He is suspected of exploiting his law enforcement connections to avoid the closure of an entertainment venue he is involved in, which was ordered closed by police following a violent incident.
