"We have to walk six segments a day, including steep and difficult climbs, sometimes in severe heat conditions of about 40 degrees Celsius, just to reach the dining room," soldiers from the Golani Brigade stationed at Camp Filon told Walla, claiming that the difficult conditions pushed some of them to avoid meals.
According to the letter, which revealed the severe conditions at the base located near the Galilee, the soldiers are forgoing meals or ordering food from outside the base due to the heavy schedule, the intense heat, and the physical exhaustion required to reach the dining room.
One of the soldiers also said that, while all of the soldiers in regular service are forced to reach the site on foot, commanders and higher officers are allowed to go in vehicles.
'We want basic logistical support'
"We are proud of our service and do our job to the best of our ability, but we believe that basic logistical support such as access to meals is an integral part of caring for the health and well-being of the soldiers," one of the soldiers wrote.
The soldiers asked for help raising awareness of the issue so they could receive an appropriate response from the relevant authorities.
Walla sent a question regarding the matter to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit on Tuesday, but no response has yet been received.
