Recently, reports in Cyprus indicated that the Yellows have begun discussions with local government officials, who are now open to the move. According to the report, estimates are that Maccabi will very soon host its games just a 40-minute flight from Israel.
In an official response, Maccabi declined to comment on the report, though a club source said: "The matter is under review. There is no doubt that Cyprus has clear advantages over Belgrade when it comes to our arrival and the arrival of our fans. On the other hand, we are currently in the middle of a process with EuroLeague to move the games back to Israel, and that is what we are dealing with right now."
In any case, it appears that at least Maccabi's first home games, against Besiktas on September 30 and Milano on October 8, are not expected to move from Belgrade.
Meanwhile, preparations continue for the season opener on Thursday (9:45 p.m.) away against ASVEL. Daniel Theis and Oshae Brissett will be in the squad for the game, while the decision regarding Jimmy Clark will be made soon. Clark is close to returning to action, with Maccabi expected to evaluate his status ahead of the game.
