Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei hit out at US President Donald Trump after the US military and Iran continued strikes on each other on Saturday.

“The repeated violations by the Great Satan of the memorandum of understanding have once again proven to everyone how worthless and unreliable the signature of the President of the United States is, and that bullying, hegemonic ambition, and savagery are inseparable elements of the American way,” Khamenei wrote in a statement.

“Now that the American enemy seeks to ignite further war, impose even heavier costs, and suffer even greater disgrace, it should know that the noble Iranian nation and the Axis of Resistance have unforgettable lessons in store for it,” he added.

“The bravery of the fighters of Islam and the courage of the people of the southern region in recent days have already demonstrated examples of those lessons.”

Khamenei's statements came after two US service members were killed in action on Friday. One is still missing in action, and four were injured during Iranian strikes on Friday in Jordan, according to United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

The four injured service members were evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and have since been discharged.

US, Iran continue strikes

The US and Iran have launched days of strikes against each other over the past week.

US airstrikes early on Saturday killed three people and wounded eight others in the southern Hormozgan province, which borders the Strait of Hormuz, while two bridges and a road tunnel were damaged, Iranian state TV reported.

The US carried out further airstrikes in the same province on Saturday afternoon, the semi-official Fars news agency said, quoting provincial authorities, but there were no reports of civilian casualties.
