Hezbollah does not oppose a parallel political negotiation with the US aimed at a security agreement with Lebanon, sources told Al Akhbar, alongside efforts to disarm the group south of the Litani.

The high level of activity of the IDF in Lebanon shows that Hezbollah continues to pose a threat.

Earlier, the IDF confirmed that it had conducted a strike, killing two Hezbollah terrorists in al-Jumayjimah, southern Lebanon, on Sunday.

Salam called on Hezbollah to hand over all weapons to the government, saying, “Contrary to rumors, no one intends to throw them into the sea or hand them over to Israel.”

The military said the disarmament was carried out in partnership with the Palestinian authorities, and a notable quantity was collected from the Ain al-Hilweh camp.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said "our diplomatic contacts have not stopped to ward off the specter of war" with Israel, noting that "the specter of war is still there."

Nawaf Salam's comments came as tensions continued to boil along Lebanon's eastern border, where Israel accuses Hezbollah of ignoring calls for disarmament and carrying out ceasefire violations.

This represents a step up in the ranks of officials participating in these meetings, which aim to address economic issues, alongside security officials who attend to discuss the ceasefire.

An Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post that the Israeli representative spoke directly with the Lebanese representative and that another meeting is expected to take place soon.

The two adversaries are signaling openness to a different relationship with Israel, and it is imperative that Jerusalem grasp the opportunity with both hands.
