Following his arrest, investigators began to suspect that the man may have been involved in a robbery at the club “Shalvata” in Tel Aviv before Operation Roaring Lion began.

Since the original 2023 announcement of the theft, the museum has recovered 654 of these, the most significant of which was 268 gems returned all at once by the United States.

One of the teenagers met the victim at the gas station, before leading him to a nearby park, where the two others, along with several others whose identities are still unknown, were waiting.

The stolen artifacts included a 26th Dynasty rare painted wooden Egyptian cat figure, a 3,300-year-old necklace, a collar, and a mummy mask.

The British woman was given an 18-month conditional discharge and ordered her to pay $1,637 in prosecution costs.

INAH specialists were sent photographs of the finds and conducted a preliminary review of the three, confirming that they indeed “form part of Mexico’s archaeological heritage.”

The workshop was discovered at the Ras Tamim archaeological site on the eastern slope of Mount Scopus. 

Of the thousands of online crimes reported in 2024, over half of them involved theft and/or distribution of information (52.4%), with a higher likelihood of women being the victims.

According to the Associated Press, Edelman, the bobsled team's pilot who posted the announcement, was not at the site of the robbery, but the team's coach, Itamar Shprinz, was.

The collection, hidden in a flowerpot on the suspect's balcony, included coins from the Hasmonean, Herodian, and Roman periods, the IAA said.
