Sources told the WSJ that if Belarus were used for a Russian attack, it could be aimed at testing NATO defenses or more attempts at undermining support for Ukraine.

The airline will reassess the situation next week and decide whether to resume operations, with passengers to be informed and offered alternatives in accordance with the law.

Some European leaders have also pushed back against efforts by Britain, France and Germany - known as the E3 - to take the diplomatic lead for Europe in any dialogue with the Kremlin.

"The moped noise hampers the work of defense systems. Their engines sound similar [to drones]," said an official regarding the temporary ban.
