The suspect, a 40-year-old doctor from northern Israel, had contacted Muhammad Majdallah, a journalist for Channel 12, from an unknown number, threatening his life on several occasions.

The Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court extended by five days the detention of the main suspect in Zalka's murder, as well as that of three other teenage suspects.

Zohar is considered close to Ezra Gabay, the businessman identified as a central suspect in the case.

The 15-year-old gave a statement to police in Rishon Lezion, which included the suspect's name. The name has not been released to the public.

The guards are suspected of exploiting their access to the town’s security systems and their authority at checkpoints to allow entry in exchange for payment.

"The Justice Ministry’s Police Internal Investigations Department chose to violate the law, to detain and then even unlawfully arrest Binyamin,” claimed Assistant-Chief Meni Binyamin's attorney.

An initial investigation determined that the incident was likely criminal and involved a 30-year-old (who is the one in more serious condition) and a 24-year-old. The shooter fled the scene.
