The visual concept plays on the philosophy that every Ferrari begins as a single line on paper. Powered by HP Indigo’s design and technical capabilities, the livery effectively peels back the chassis to expose the engine and intricate internal architecture underneath.
Applying detailed graphics to a high-performance Formula 1 vehicle presented significant technical hurdles. The design required exact alignment along the car's complex contours, while the materials had to remain fully durable against extreme racing temperatures, continuous handling, and rigorous cleaning throughout the Grand Prix weekend.
The project was a collaborative effort linking Ferrari’s teams in the United States with HP engineers in Barcelona through extensive rounds of testing and refinement. Guided by Ferrari’s creative vision, the cross-border teams iteratively fine-tuned application methods and specialized materials until achieving the final build.
To bring the original engineering blueprints to life on the vehicle's bodywork, HP leveraged its Latex wide-format vehicle wrapping expertise. A key element of the process involved HP engineers formulating a custom, invisible blue ink for the digital press, perfecting its application across the car’s intricate aerodynamic curves.
Anneliese Olson, President of Imaging at HP: "Our engineers worked alongside Ferrari’s designers and engineers from the very beginning, integrating expertise from across HP to turn an ambitious concept into reality. This project pushed the boundaries of our technological capabilities."
