An individual in their 20s was moderately injured after being hit by Jerusalem's new L3 light rail line on Derech Agudat Sport Hapoel near Malha Mall, Magen David Adom announced on Tuesday afternoon.
A second person was lightly injured, MDA said.
Both have been evacuated to Hadassah-University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem.
The L3 segment opened in late August and spans several kilometers, running from Haturim station west to Malha Mall and the expanding Gav Yam tech park.
The segment adds 12 stations to the network alongside the existing Haturim interchange and the Central Bus Station/Navon hub.
One killed, one seriously injured in latest fatal road accident in Israel
On Sunday, a man in his 30s was killed, and a woman in her 40s was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on Route 762 near Rechasim.
Magen David Adom teams pronounced the man dead at the scene. They treated the woman before taking her to Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa with injuries to her abdomen and lower limbs.
Firefighters also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle split in two, with part of it having rolled into a ditch about four meters deep.
Earlier in September, two people were killed, and six others were injured in traffic accidents across Israel over one weekend.
