A Jewish settler group clashed with West Bank Palestinians after entering a village during an unapproved hike, Army Radio reported on Friday.

The group had not received approval from IDF forces prior to entering the West Bank, a security source told Army Radio.

The village is several hundred meters away from an illegal outpost, according to Army Radio.

Initial reports allege that over a hundred Palestinians attacked the group with rocks after the group started a fire in a Palestinian home. Footage circulated online showing a fire in one of the village homes which was allegedly started by the settler group, and Army Radio later reported that a security official had confirmed that the settlers had set fire to a Palestinian home in the village.

The IDF entered the village in order to extract the group, and one 18-year-old Palestinian was shot and killed after allegedly throwing a rock at point-blank range at a civilian security coordinator who was first to arrive on the scene, Army Radio reported.

Another 65-year-old Palestinian was wounded by gunfire, Army Radio reported.

No injuries to either the hiking group or the IDF soldiers were reported.

A security source told Army Radio that the police had opened an investigation into the incident.

IDF arrests Palestinians for attempting to attack soldiers

Earlier this week, several Palestinians were arrested by the IDF after attempting to attack Israeli soldiers in the West Bank city of Hebron, Ynet reported.

The report cited an IDF spokesperson, who said the military arrived on the scene following an altercation between Palestinians and Israeli settlers who were throwing stones at each other.

Upon their arrival, a group of Palestinians surrounded the IDF soldiers and attempted to attack them, with the soldiers responding by firing shots at two of the attackers and arresting several others, according to Ynet.
