The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) will receive a dedicated budget of half a billion shekels to address Arab crime, the Cabinet Secretary, Yossi Fuchs, announced on Monday.

The budget will be funded from the 550 Plan budget, which was led by the previous government and is currently under the authority of Minister May Golan.

The budget will be sourced from several government ministries through a reallocation of funds from Resolution 550 - the decision passed under the previous government in which funds were transferred to Mansour Abbas. The total budget for the Shin Bet and the police will amount to NIS 567 million.

The government is expected to approve the decision at the upcoming cabinet meeting this Sunday.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir addressed the announcement, saying, "Tremendous news for the citizens of Israel, bitter news for the crime organizations. After the failed former head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, dug his heels in to prevent the Shin Bet from entering the fight against Arab crime, the excellent new Shin Bet chief, David Zini, has mobilized for the cause."

Billions transferred without oversight under 'Bennett-Abbas' plan

"I am glad that Minister May Golan and I succeeded in securing the dedicated budget that will allow the Shin Bet to participate in the fight against this national plague, which has been neglected for decades."

Social Equality Minister May Golan said, "After fighting to expose the truth about the 'Takadum' plan of the Bennett-Abbas government - under which billions of shekels were transferred without oversight or control, and extensive public funds actually leaked to crime organizations - I am pleased that I managed, together with Prime Minister Netanyahu and my colleague Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, to lead a historic move that corrects this distortion.

"Instead of funneling more funds without control, we are redirecting resources to a real war against crime organizations and restoring security to the citizens of Israel, together with the Shin Bet led by David Zini and the Israel Police - in order to lead an uncompromising struggle against the murderous crime and terror organizations in the Arab sector."
