The EU and Gulf states have agreed to postpone their summit that was due to be held in Saudi Arabia on October 24, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Thursday.

The sources confirmed remarks by Bulgaria's Prime Minister Rumen Radev, who earlier on Thursday said he had understood the meeting would be scrapped due to security concerns.

"Unfortunately, as far as I know, this meeting in Riyadh will be postponed, maybe for security reasons," Radev told reporters on arrival at a summit of EU leaders in Brussels.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said discussions about the summit were ongoing. "You will hear when there is something to announce," she told reporters in Brussels.

Saudi coalition intercepts Houthi drones, missiles

On Tuesday, the Saudi-led coalition said that it intercepted three missiles and two drones fired by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi terrorists towards Riyadh and Aramco's headquarters in Dhahran.

The initial interception announcement regarding Dhahran came after loud booms were heard in the area, six sources told Reuters on Tuesday, with the coalition saying that missile fragments fell in a nearby residential area.

Four people were injured and 15 homes sustained limited damage in Riyadh after debris from two intercepted missiles fell on the Saudi capital, the state news agency SPA reported on Wednesday, citing the Civil Defense spokesperson.
