El Al's push for a new flight route to Russia comes after the suspension of the Tel Aviv-Moscow route in June due to the security situation amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

When the American airline giants agree to renew flights to Israel, it means the global gatekeepers have officially declared the crisis contained.

"Haifa Airport is experiencing significant momentum, with an impressive increase in the number of passengers and flights and the expansion of flight options for residents of the north," said the IAA.

Israir already has approval from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Transportation, and it expects to start selling tickets to New York for October flights.

Adar Madutzky became the first female captain in the airline's history, and she is also the daughter of Arkia's Embraer fleet captain, Tal Madutzky.

"The matter is simple. Ultimately, this should not have happened. This was a wildcat and unjustified strike, even though Pinchas does not call it a strike," Marom said.

The incident comes as the FAA continues to warn about the dangers lithium-ion rechargeable batteries pose to aircraft, including those found in laptops, cell phones, and other common devices.

IAA workers’ union chairman Pinchas Idan rejected allegations of responsibility during an interview with KAN, instead blaming the airport manager for the chaos.

The war-torn nation began its revival effort soon after the ousting of former president Bashar al-Assad, with recent developments including the return of Syrian Airlines to Europe.

"As soon as the FAA authorizes Israir to fly to New York... Israir will immediately start operating the flights, and, as a result, start selling tickets," the airline stated.
