As the Board of Peace awaits a response, short-term initiatives will continue to be advanced in areas not under Hamas control, a source told The Jerusalem Post.

"The Gaza committee is an Israeli recipe for reinforcing Palestinian division," Rajoub said. "We should never have agreed to or accepted the committee under any circumstances."

An official explained that a major problem has arisen due to on-the-ground dynamics. "Hamas is dragging its feet, and the US is finding it difficult to apply leverage on it," he noted.

Netanyahu acknowledged his tense call with President Trump earlier this week, saying that the two have “tactical disagreements,” but highlighted that  they “agree on the main things.”

The board has received donations, but they have been deposited directly via its JPMorgan account, according to the board’s spokesperson. 

“At this stage, the principal obstacle to full implementation remains Hamas’ refusal to accept verified decommissioning," Nickolay Mladenov, the High Representative for Gaza, told the UNSC.

Hamas has forcefully preserved its monopoly on violence and remains the only Palestinian governing authority in the areas still under its control in Gaza.
