The current Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was one of the main absences in the funeral, while he hasn't been seen in the public eye since he was wounded at the begining of the war.

Iran is staging a week of mass funeral processions for Khamenei, whose 37-year reign was brought to an end in February by the first airstrike of the war.

If the regime wants to use Khamenei’s funeral to present unity, Iranians abroad must use the same week to show that unity belongs to the people, not to the Islamic Republic.

The event will last a week and span several major cities in Iran and Iraq, with ceremonies in Tehran, Qom, Mashhad, Najaf, and Karbala.

Iran's supreme leader was killed by US and Israeli strikes in their first attack of the war and the funeral events will begin over the weekend in Tehran, with mass processions planned next week.

Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf told Iranians to "rise up" and "demand revenge" during a speech on Thursday at the funeral.

The Week of Action will also mark six months since the start of the Iranian protests against the regime, which Pahlavi called "a massacre."

Khamenei’s underground bunker had become an IDF target during Israel’s strikes against Iran in March, with clandestine IDF units 8200 and 9900 providing intelligence on its location.
