Police noted that the investigation is still ongoing, and additional suspects are expected to be arrested in Israel and other European countries.

The Israel Police announced that they had arrested a suspect who had been planning a terror attack during the Jerusalem Day celebrations.

The March shooting left Mayor Nassar seriously wounded and Dr. Anwar Yassin, head of the local popular committee, moderately wounded.

"To our regret, this parade - which ends with a mass rally in the Western Wall Square - has become an arena for acts of violence, hatred, looting, and racism in recent years," he wrote in a letter.

Upon receiving the complaint, Judea and Samaria District police opened an investigation and notified additional security officials, police said.

The terrorist emerged from a vehicle and fired at the forces, prompting the officers to return fire and kill him. No officers were injured in the incident.

According to Israeli public broadcaster KAN News, the incident started inside the shooter's home. When the victim attempted to flee, the shooter opened fire indiscriminately near the local market.

"The strength of emergency organizations is not measured only by the ability of each body individually, but rather by our ability to act together, as one force, in real time," Klepper stated.

According to the police, the driver of the vehicle, a man from Rahat, was arrested under suspicion of money laundering and tax offenses, and the money was confiscated.

Earlier on Saturday, five other suspects were arrested near the stadium on suspicion that they were planning on bringing weapons to the soccer game.
